Teacup dogs

Although it has not been recognized by any major dog registry, the term Teacup refers to the smallest range of dogs in the Toy group and often represents dogs which size ranges from 4 to 7 pounds. Teacup is merely used to describe the size of the pup.

In recent years there has been an increased interest in Teacup dogs and Teacup breeders can fetch anything from $800 t0 $10.000 per teacup puppy. Many believe that the practice of breading teacup dogs is unethical and should not be legal. Others, more accepting of the teacup believe such practice is fine as long as it is done by reputable breeders. If you intend to adopt/buy a teacup dog beware that many “teacup breeders” will simply use the term teacup as a marketing plot to increase the price of Toy pups.

Teacup dogs are known for having a list of health problems throughout their lives ranging from respiratory conditions through to musculoskeletel problems. Teacup puppies are often so fragile that they barely survive their first year of life.
Some Teacup breeds include: teacup yorkies, teacup chihuahuas, teacup papilions, teacup pugs, teacup shitzu, teacup terriers, teacup pomeranians, teacup poodles, teacup schnauzer, teacup beagles, teacup maltipoos
